We are doing everything virtually. No need to risk getting sick or getting someone else sick. Facetime and Zoom work great. We want to survive to see next Christmas. It’s a small price to pay. Also just on a statistical basis, it’s clear that one cannot be guaranteed there would be a hospital bed if god forbid you got sick enough to need one. Hell no. Staying home. Stay at home, don’t mix with people outside your family group, don’t travel, wear your mask, wash your hands. Do not underestimate the indiscriminate, fatal power of COVID-19. There will be a Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, weddings. I live alone too and would love nothing better than for this year to be a normal. Have been doing it for years. And this year will be extra special because we are all healthy. My family and I are planning on having a wonderful Christmas in July. I am not willing to ask my children to risk their lives to travel here and they do not want to risk my life if they should infect me. It makes sense to me that families who love each other.
