A host of labels used the set design of their runway shows to celebrate the oeuvre of female artists. At Dior, Maria Grazia Chiuri collaborated with Italian artist Mariella Bettineschi on a red-carpeted show set lined with framed portraits of canonical figures, their faces given double layers of eyes. The artworks acted as a commentary on the societal gaze imposed on women, another creative partnership with Chiuri’s exhibition-worthy number of female artists, which includes Judy Chicago, Anna Paparatti and Claire Fontaine.
