A host of labels used the set design of their runway shows to celebrate the oeuvre of female artists. Roksanda collaborated with artist Eva Rothschild on an installation of bold wooden plinths that lined her runway at the Tate Britain. At Dior, Maria Grazia Chiuri collaborated with Italian artist Mariella Bettineschi on a red-carpeted show set lined with framed portraits of canonical figures, their faces given double layers of eyes. The artworks acted as a commentary on the societal gaze imposed on women, another creative partnership with Chiuri’s exhibition-worthy number of female artists, which includes Judy Chicago, Anna Paparatti and Claire Fontaine.
